On July 14th, 2017, I participated in a free information session for International Medical Graduates (IMG’s) led by Dr Jerome Nicholas, the head of the Australian Health Practitioners Academy. Dr Nicholas has spent a lot of time working to make life easier for IMG’s who are getting started here in Australia – searching for a position, interviewing, etc. At the end of this post there is a link of interview tips for IMG’s, be sure to download it to be better prepared for your interviews.
In this 2 hr presentation, Dr Nicholas provided an overview for a future workshop to be held for International Medical Graduates. I joined in the session through a Q&A portion, and will be helping candidates in the workshop prepare for employment interviews.
While testing, scores and your skill as a practitioner have an impact on the interview process, it is often the more basic tasks of the interview process that determine your success or failure. You should carefully research any positions you are interviewing for, the location of the interview, and follow a number of steps to be fully prepared and in the right mindset throughout the interview.
