Dr Perera’s Rating:
This book shares remarkable stories of peoples whose lives have been dramatically changed through physical healing that takes place in their brain … These changes are underpinned by the concept of neuronal plasticity. In a bygone era writers believed that once a nerve was damaged there was little chance for it to regenerate. However, to quote psychiatrist and researcher, Norman Doidge, MD, “I travelled around the United States to meet the brilliant scientists championing neuroplasticity, and the people whose lives they’ve transformed — people whose mental limitations or brain damage were previously seen as unalterable, and whose conditions had long been dismissed as hopeless.”
This is a good read for medical students and also for doctors who have been in practice for years. The general public will find useful information and hope where hope may have been lost. There are also helpful references to a variety of websites.
